Malaysian Airlines - reduced fares
"MAS - Fare review to improve its share of the travel market"
MAS realising its decline in competition from the other international airlines and new budget airlines operating internally within Malaysia and increasing internationally and regionally, has come back with a fight.
In response to that, by 15 Jan 2007 it will be putting new fares across the board. Mostly travellers will expect a reduction in fares. In order to pass the benefit to travellers one of the cost saving measures is to restructure its agent commission regime. It has been said that no commission is to be paid to travel agents as customers are encouraged to buy online over the internet. This will streamline process and response time as well as cutting down costs. How this will work we will have to wait and see when the system kicks in in the next few months.
Hopefully this will be an all round positive effect for the travellers.
